Science Year happened throughout the UK. It was launched on 7 September 2001 and ran in Scotland until the end of 2002. The Scottish Executive Education Department (SEED) had overall responsibility for Science Year in Scotland. Science Year events, activities and initiatives were coordinated and publicised on a Scotland-wide basis, with lots of regional input, by SETPOINT Scotland (North, East, Greater Glasgow and West). So, wherever you are in Scotland, you were not too far geographically from part of the Science Year team.

The team comprises:

  • Coordinator, Fiona Selkirk (BA Regional Officer for Central & South Scotland), assisted by Rebecca Crawford (University of Glasgow) and Anne MacKinnon (Neighbourhood Engineers Coordinator)

  • in Aberdeen, Gordon Shanks & Jennifer Hines of SETPOINT Scotland North

  • in Edinburgh, Patricia Thomson of SETPOINT Scotland East

  • in Glasgow, Steve Brindley & Sarah Hunt of SETPOINT Scotland West

  • also in Glasgow, Susan McLaren & Pam Curle of SETPOINT Scotland Greater Glasgow (Pam is our Science Year Administrator).
