Blepharoplasty gives the person a more youthful, awake look. It is usually accompanied by a face lift or a brow lift. Although it can be done alone.
This surgery normally lasts one and a half to three hours. If you are having both the upper and lower eyelids done, you can expect a three hour procedure. If you are only having the top eyelid altered, it can be a same-day surgery. If you are having both eyelids altered, you might have to spend one night in the hospital. The recovery process takes much longer, though. You will leave the hospital with bandages over your eyes.
The bruising and swelling will go away during the first couple of weeks. You may experience dry eyes and should have eye drops to help with this problem. Any stitches will be removed after five days. Scarring should be minimal, although it does differ with every patient. Most people will return to work or their normal routine after ten days. Once again, this is different with each individual patient. Everyone should avoid anything strenuous for approximately three weeks following the surgery.
When having eyebag removal surgery, you should keep your expectations realistic. It will boost your appearance and your self-esteem, but it will not change your overall look. You will still look like yourself. Just, possibly, a younger version of you. You will, also, look more awake. If it does not meet your expectations, further surgery may be needed also.
